How We Uplift Writers (& How We Hope to Grow!)

Mentorship

Each summer, we invite 85 high school students from around the world to study poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction with established writers. Students emerge from the program with long-lasting relationships with their mentors and peers, as well as a polished portfolio of their creative work.

We hope to offer mentorship opportunities beyond the confines of the summer season. We also hope to offer more robust financial aid opportunities, so we can truly ensure that we are upholding our mission to invite those to the table who are not traditionally invited.

Programs

Whether we’re offering a platform for members of the literary community to share exciting new work or inviting established writers onboard to share writing and publishing insights with students in our mentorship program, we’re always focused on creating and leveraging opportunities to bring writers and literary enthusiasts together. We’re excited to expand the breadth and frequency of programming we offer in the coming years.

Community

We love seeing contributors and staff thrive both on and off the page, publishing in top-tier venues, receiving writing fellowships that catapult their careers, and finding homes at prestigious publishing houses. (It’s no wonder Aria Aber, Derrick Austin, Destiny O. Birdsong, Dorothy Chan, Leila Chatti, Kinsale Drake, Kamden Hilliard, Aaron Robertson, Leslie Sainz, Anthony Veasna So, and more have graced Team Adroit, and why we have more inspiring contributors than we can count!)

While working on the Adroit team offers undeniably invaluable exposure to the literary industry, we aspire to pay all staff members and contributors by the end of 2023. That’s where your donation comes in!
