Jocelyn Cooley is from Fort Wayne, Indiana. She thanks her teacher, Nicole Croy, family and friends, and the editors of The Adroit Journal for this opportunity. In a society full of thoughts and ideas that believe melanin is a weapon, her art highlights and uses article covers and impactful titles in order to show the strength of African Americans in America today. This portfolio has been blessed to receive a National Silver Medal with Distinction for the Scholastics Art and Writing Competition, and has been submitted as an AP Photography portfolio.
