Liz Zheng is an award winning artist and student at Upper Dublin High School. Her main approach to art is centered around capturing a moment of vulnerability. Inspired by the baroque period, Peter Paul Rubins, Artemisia Gentileschi, and Caravaggio’s works influenced her portrayal of scenes in life at a subject’s most fragile moments. In addition, it roused her own creativity to play and manipulate shadows and light. Her goal in her work is to evoke emotion by capturing loneliness, serenity, human fragility, and the brevity of life — to depict the human soul and mood in response to these special instances in a snapshot of time.
