Austin Kim is a multi-media artist born and raised in Southern California. His current work explores the relationship between organic bodies within digital and technological ecosystems, specifically in spaces of mass surveillance. Within the practice of fibers/textiles, he is interested in diasporic memory constructions of Post Korean-War borderlands and how spaces of domesticity become psychically charged with memories of division. In his more public practice, he engages with frameworks of psycholinguistics, cognitive frameworks, hypnosis, and rituality. Austin is an alumnus from the Orange County School of the Arts (Santa Ana, CA) and is a current student at Pomona College (Claremont, CA) considering a major in Sociology and a minor in Cognitive Science.
