Emily Hsu is a Taiwanese-American artist and writer based in New Jersey. As a 2025 YoungArts Winner with Distinction in Writing/Spoken Word and the 2024-2025 Inaugural Edison Youth Poet Laureate, her written and visual works have been recognized by YoungArts, Congressional Institute, Smithsonian, Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, National Council of Teachers of English, The Holy Art, Urban Word, COUNTERCLOCK Journal, Polyphony Lit, Endangered Species, Wildlife Forever, Camelback Gallery, among others. Her work “Falling Up” was displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol’s Cannon Tunnel in Washington D.C., and “Thirst” has been forever collected by the Ned Smith Art Center in Pennsylvania. In July 2025, she will be performing as a youth poet in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival at the National Mall. She is an alumna of Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, Kenyon Young Writers’ Workshop, Interlochen Arts Camp, School of The New York Times, and architecture programs at Carnegie Mellon and the Rhode Island School of Design.
