
Ayomide Bayowa is a Nigerian Canadian writer, filmmaker and poet laureate of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. In 2018, he was longlisted for the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize, shortlisted for the Eriata Oribabhor Poetry Prize (EOPP), and the Christopher Okigbo Interuniversity Poetry Prize, which he was also a shortlist in 2019. He became the first place in the 2020 July Open Drawer Poetry Contest, the June/ July 2021 Edition of the Bi-monthly Brigitte Poirson Poetry Contest (BPPC) and evolved the second place in the On-Spot Poetry Writing Contest, 2019, as well as the 2021 K. Valerie Connor Poetry Prize’s Student Category. He was a top-ten gold entrant of the 9th Open Eurasian Literary Festival, U.K, and a semi-finalist of the 2021 Cave Canem Poetry Prize. Bayowa was commended for the 2021 Adroit Prize for Poetry and has appeared in a long list of literary magazines, some of which are Barren Magazine, Agbowó, Kreative Diadem, Guesthouse-Lit, Stone of Madness Press.
