“Disconnection” by Ilhana Kisjia

 

“Disconnection” is a piece created by Ilhana Kisija in response to the issue of deportation and separation of families during times of crises, like those many people are experiencing today. Her piece won best in show for the IHSAE awards and a national gold medal in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. She is a seventeen-year-old artist from Chicago hoping to spread awareness about the continuing issues within the process of deportation through her art.
