Each summer, we invite 85 high school students from around the world to study poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction with established writers. Students emerge from the program with long-lasting relationships with their mentors and peers, as well as a polished portfolio of their creative work.
We hope to offer mentorship opportunities beyond the confines of the summer season. We also hope to offer more robust financial aid opportunities, so we can truly ensure that we are upholding our mission to invite those to the table who are not traditionally invited.
Whether we’re offering a platform for members of the literary community to share exciting new work or inviting established writers onboard to share writing and publishing insights with students in our mentorship program, we’re always focused on creating and leveraging opportunities to bring writers and literary enthusiasts together. We’re excited to expand the breadth and frequency of programming we offer in the coming years.
We love seeing contributors and staff thrive both on and off the page, publishing in top-tier venues, receiving writing fellowships that catapult their careers, and finding homes at prestigious publishing houses. (It’s no wonder Aria Aber, Derrick Austin, Destiny O. Birdsong, Dorothy Chan, Leila Chatti, Kinsale Drake, Kamden Hilliard, Aaron Robertson, Leslie Sainz, Anthony Veasna So, and more have graced Team Adroit, and why we have more inspiring contributors than we can count!)
While working on the Adroit team offers undeniably invaluable exposure to the literary industry, we aspire to pay all staff members and contributors by the end of 2023. That’s where your donation comes in!
Our readers’ donations are tax deductible. You will receive an email confirming your donation, which you may use for tax purposes.
Supporters at the Debut tier receive a copy of one chapbook, anthology, or collection we offer during the calendar year following donation!
Our advocates receive a limited edition Adroit broadside (first-come, first-serve, while supplies last!) and receive copies of all chapbooks, anthologies, and collections we offer during the calendar year following donation.
In addition to all perks offered to Advocates, we offer each supporter in our Authors’ Circle two complimentary tickets to each online event we offer and up to three complimentary tickets to exclusive readings and Q&A’s with established Adroit writers.
In addition to all perks offered to Advocates and Authors, we offer each supporter in our Editors’ Circle (or one friend of each supporter/supporting company or family!) feedback on up to 10 pages of poetry or 15 double-spaced pages of prose in the year following donation. Furthermore, all supporters in our Editors’ Circle and above are listed in chapbooks, anthologies, and collections released for two calendar years following donation.
In addition to all perks offered to Advocates, Authors, and Editors, we offer each supporter in our Publishers’ Circle (or one friend of each supporter/supporting company or family!) feedback on one full-length poetry manuscript or up to 150 double-spaced pages of prose, at any point following contribution.
In addition to all perks offered to Advocates, Authors, Editors, and Publishers, we honor each supporter in our Publishers’ Gold Circle with the opportunity to name one full-tuition, need-based $450 scholarship to Adroit’s online high school summer writers’ program for five years following the calendar year of donation.
We’re extremely grateful to the following institutions and organizations who have offered financial support to The Adroit Journal.
